Projects
Atlantic Park, Liverpool

Overview
Developed by the Atlantic Consortium on a former brownfield site and situated within a priority regeneration area subject to European funding to facilitate regeneration, Atlantic Park is a prestigious new business park in North Liverpool. It offers over 46,000 sq m (495,140 sq ft) of office space on a 20ha (50a) site, providing employment opportunities for 2,400 people.
Brief
DEP were appointed to produce a masterplan, develop the site infrastructure layout and design the external works for the site as a whole as well as amenity areas and phased plot developments. Our input brought the scheme from inception and outline design, through planning to detail design and implementation on site.
Approach
As part of the client team, we were instrumental in achieving a 10 year outline planning permission. This was tied to an approved development framework to steer the phased redevelopment of the site and provide the continued delivery of floorpsace via a series of on-going reserved matters applications. Extensive consultation was undertaken with Sefton Council and the Highway Agency with particular regard to the proposed highway/infrastructure and landscaping works required at particular phases of the outline planning permission.
Solution
Redevelopment of the park began with the implementation of the road infrastructure, landscaping works including frontage treatment, provision of amenity space and boundary improvements to accommodate neighbouring residential properties. This was followed by the recent completion of two landmark office buildings and associated plot landscape works, car parking etc. Both office building incorporate renewable energy technologies compliant with national and local planning policy. DEP formulated a comprehensive Landscape Management Strategy to satisfy rigorous planning conditions and to provide a framework for the ongoing development and environmental improvement works.
Results
Atlantic Park is a thriving and developing business park in which the principles of good design and sustainability have been implemented from the outset. DEP have ensured that by maintaining these standards and through the establishment of design guidance and a comprehensive landscape management strategy, Atlantic Park will continue to provide a quality business environment for the future.
